The IUPUI Men's Golf team began their season off the right way, defeating 11 other squads in the Fossum Invitational hosted by Michigan State.
Despite taking on an impressive list of foes, the Jaguar Golf team took the two lowest scores into the clubhouse, leading to an impressive team victory in East Lansing, Michigan.
Michael Davan lead the way for IUPUI, shooting a 2-under 214 (75-70-69) for the weekend, good enough for first place overall. Ben Engle shot a 216, finishing even for the tournament on three rounds of 76, 71, and 69 respectively.
Michael Powell tied for 12th with a 5-over 221 (70-77-74), Jose Pablo Segurola tied for 30th at a plus-11 227 (79-73-75), and Phillip Wirkkala was tied for 37th after shooting a 13-over 299 (80-75-74) on the weekend.
Santiago Ruiz, playing as an individual at the tournament, shot a plus-13 229 (76-74-79) as well.
