The first and only upset of the first round took place in the Summit League 4/5 game as IPFW was able to down South Dakota State 71-66. In front of a hostile crowd (see the picture to the right, via Scott McCauley), IPFW was able to pull ahead in the final minutes to secure a spot in the Summit League Semifinals against Oakland, who downed (8) UMKC 80-65 Saturday night. IPFW collectively shot 49% from the floor, including 50% from long range, and 75% from the line, compared to SDST's 37.5 FG% and 25 3P%. SDST ends their season losing Kai Williams (the team's leading rebounder) to graduation after a 14-16 season.

What This Win Means...
IPFW goes into their game tonight with a renewed sense of confidence. Losing by just three in the last regular season game of the year to Oakland, they seek to upset the regular season champs and #1 seed in the tournament.
