Player of the Game: Bill Clark, DUQ
Clark absolutely dominated with 17 points and 14 rebounds, adding in five assists and two steals...all in 26 minutes...as a guard.
Six Man of the Game: P.J. Hubert, IUPUI
Ladies and gentlemen, he's not hurt anymore. P.J. erupted for 15 points (5-6 from superhoopland) in his first collegiate game.
Stat of the Game: 27-31.
No, that's not a shooting percentage, that's how many assists Duquesne had for the number of shots they made. Who's to say what they would've had if they hit more than 49% of their attempts...
----------
Et Cetera...
- I actually had a few members of the IUPUI staff/team apologize to me for their performance in the game. I thought that was totally unprecedented, and one of the coolest things I've ever heard. I didn't need an apology, but they felt they let me down. I gotta say, the program is filled will classy guys.
- Interestingly, I had someone on the staff mention getting back to speeding up the game. This goes against what they have done all season offensively, but it could be the spark they need. Stephen, Leroy, and Alex are all great transition shooters, and with the smaller lineup they seem to be putting on the floor, it could help in the long run...especially with the three already signed for next year's team...
- Wow that game hurt.
- The "Curse of Every Other Year" seems to be striking again. Since Ron Hunter has taken over at the helm, IUPUI has followed every up year with a down year, and vice versa. This is good news for next year's squad, but bad news for anyone hoping for a sudden turn around of 2010-2011.
- I have to say, I think the basketball gods were doing me a solid when they cut my feed out with 8:00 to play. As much as it pains me to miss any second of IUPUI basketball...that was brutal.
- How have I not mentioned P.J. Hubert more. After missing his first shot of the night from superhoopland, P.J. followed up with 5-5 behind the arc for 15 points. He was one of the best long-range shooters in the state his senior year of high school, and that's exactly what Ron Hunter recruited him for. Knowing someone like him and Sean Esposito are both available on the bench, or potentially starting one day, is a good feeling to have.
- Leroy, Leroy, Leroy...
- Is it just me, or do the Jaguars have NO home games this year? Oh, they only play 1/3 of their games at home? Okay. (I realize that kind of scheduling was near-unavoidable this year...but...AVOID IT.)
- Oh, and we were out rebounded by 17. Yeah. 17. Seventeen. 1-7. 10+7=17. WOW.

Review: Keys to the Game
1) Another IUPUI-Paced Game. (Sorta)
Well, the Jaguars slowed the game down a little bit, but Duquesne scored freely from about 5:00 into the game on. Fast, slow, inbetween, it didn't matter.
2) Get To The Line. (No.)
IUPUI hit all but one of their foul shots...Except they only took nine.
3) Maintain This Momentum! (Ouch.)
The Jaguars couldn't even maintain their momentum through the first 10 minutes. Any and all push they had from the Ohio game was completely decimated, but there is hope. If you look at the way they've played all year, Hunter's club has been very back and forth, no matter what the game before suggested they should do...
4) 43% FG; 38% 3P; 82% FT. (Nope.)
36% FG; 26% 3P; 89% FT. [I even set the bar low for this game.]
