Game Preview, Game 29: UMKC, Part Deux...SENIOR NIGHT

It's SENIOR NIGHT at the Jungle, but the Jaguars don't have time to feel nostalgic. IUPUI must win this game against UMKC to keep hopes alive for the second seed. They'll need a lot of help, but a loss could bump them all the way down to fourth or fifth. Every game gets bigger as the opportunities to refine their game gets smaller.

But I must say, we sure are going to miss watching our seniors play at home.

Key Match Up

Alex Young
vs
Jay Couisnard
While Couisnard hasn't strung together enough great performances to be considered first or second team All-Summit League, like Michael Tveidt he is capable of changing any game he's in. Alex hasn't been really dominating since the Oakland game, but he'll need to completely neutralize Couisnard for the Jaguars to win this one easily.

Keys To The Game

1) Balance Emotions.
It's senior night, and we'll be seeing the last of our four seniors at The Jungle. The importance of balancing nostalgia with positive energy in situations like this will be a crucial aspect of a Jaguar victory. If they do it right, this game could get out of hand quickly. Wrong? The phrase "worst case scenario" comes to mind.

2) But Seriously, Win.
Another win would keep the tiebreakers in place, so if IUPUI were to tie UMKC, IPFW, and South Dakota State, they would rise to the top. A loss to UMKC means another seed thrown away. Not just for the seniors, but for ever

3) Run The Ball.
Yeah, same as last game. The offensive slump the Jaguars seem to be in can be cured by getting back to what they're good at: Running the ball and getting to the paint. It's quiet frustrating to watch our guys getting out of their comfort zone. They are too talented to allow any other team in this League to dictate how they operate on offense.

4) 55% FG; 84% FT; 42% 3P.
