Game Preview, Game 28: Southern Utah University, Part Deux

The final home stand of the 2010-2011 season is upon us, and damn time has flown. IUPUI is still the leading candidates for a second straight #2 seed in Sioux Falls, but they must win the rest of their games to full  secure that spot. This "pre-playoffs playoff" begins tonight against Southern Utah, a team the Jags struggled with in the first half of their previous meeting, though the guys managed to put a 20-0 run up and secure the victory. Tonight's match up should be a good one to help kick start a push deep into March.

Keys To The Game

1) Wreck Them.
The next four games are going to be huge for IUPUI's confidence going into the conference tournament. The seniors are rightfully feeling nostalgic, and nothing would be better for them moving forward than to demolish Southern Utah tonight in The Jungle.

2) Get Christian The Ball From The Beginning.
Siakam has improved every game so far this season, and getting him points early will disrupt the game plan of SUU, who will absolutely try to force the Jaguars into jump shots. He should be able to get 12-14 points and 4-5 offensive rebounds through the whole game, and the longer he can continue to score at will and keep possessions alive, the long IUPUI will dominate the overall game.

3) Run The Ball.
SUU is going to take a lot of three pointers, and miss a lot of shots. The more the Jaguars can push the pace and score in transition, the bigger they'll be able to expand whatever lead they have. Stephen and John at the point are going to be key in this, and the others need to follow their pace by getting down court and in position. Look for Donovan to see some good minutes as the number of possessions increases. He is the fastest substitute at forward, and runs in transition very well.

4) 47% FG; 80% FT; 38% 3P.
